US Open Future

Novak Djokovic outright winner (+150)

I placed this bet yesterday morning, obviously before Alcaraz lost but out of fairness I will use the current odds because those are the ones that are currently available to everyone else.

As I stated above, regardless of the outcome in the Alcaraz match last night Djokovic was still my pick to win the US Open and repeat last years title. After watching him lose the Wimbledon final in straight sets, I truly thought this was going to be the downslide of his career but I was wrong. He bounced back and really dominated in the Olympics in route to his first gold medal, beating all six oppenent’s in straight sets. It was really a master class.

I know the US Open is played on a different surface than the Olympics, hard court v clay but he seems to have picked up right where he left off in Paris. Beating Albot in straight sets in round 1 (6-2, 6-2, 6-4) and beating the fellow countryman Djere in straight sets as well (6-4, 6-4, 0-2) in round 2. I watched both of these matches and he looked incredibly sharp and was moving very well, that’s what started my thought process on backing him to win.

Originally, I wanted to stay away from the other side of the bracket that included both Alcaraz and Sinner, if they both won they would have eventually faced each other in the semi finals. Risking either of them to lose to the other, Djokovic doesn’t have that problem being the #2 seed. Yes he does have to face some good players like Shelton, Tiafoe, Rublev, Dimitrov and Zverev but Sinner, Alcaraz and Djokovic were my three picks to win and Novak gets to avoid the other two top guys.

I will take my chances at plus money with Djokovic against any of those guys I just mentioned and I will also take him against Sinner if it plays out that way. Djokovic looks like he’s turned back the clock in the past month and being a 14 time major champion on hard court and a 4 time US Open champion I will take him against anyone in the field. GL.
