LSU ML/Notre Dame ML (-133)
My start to the college football season this year has been slow, so please don’t come at my neck if this one loses but I feel I have some solid backing to my claims.
Starting with LSU who plays at noon Saturday against South Carolina. LSU is off a 20-27 loss to USC last weekend and looking to bounce back against a really good South Carolina team. This game couldn’t have come at a worse time for LSU in my opinion, those players and those fans will be fired up especially with College Gameday coming to town. Despite losing by just a touchdown, this was a winnable game for LSU. They had 41 more rushing yards and just 29 fewer total yards than USC, it was ultimately the lone turnover that derailed them.
LSU now faces a South Carolina team that is 2-0 on the year with a dominant 31-9 win at Kentucky and a 23-19 win against Old Dominion last weekend. It is the Old Dominion game that led me to pick LSU in this game, even on the road. Old Dominion had 4 turnovers and just basically gave the game to South Carolina. Two fumbles inside their own 10, and an interception on the goal line, if it wasn’t for these they would have won the game in my opinion because SC played terribly. 10-23 for just 114 yards passing and averaged 3.1 yards per carry.
LSU may have lost a tough game to a really good USC opponent but I think they bounce back against in Columbia SC tomorrow afternoon.
Onto Notre Dame who had a similar loss last weekend, after losing a shocker to Northern Illinois this is a perfect get-right game for them. I don’t care how big Purdue won against Indiana St, Notre Dame will come into this game fired up and ready to make a statement. Purdue is coming off a bye and will most likely have a good game plan for Notre Dame but I am expecting ND to rely on their defense while their offense is trying to figure some things out.
Not even worried about Notre Dame, think Leonard, even a bit banged up will come out strong and get a statement win at home. GL.
