Last the play of the weekend we are backing a same game parlay in the Atletico Madrid/Girona game.

The first leg is Atletico Madrid team total over 1.5 goals. They are coming off a mediocre offensive perforce last game against Villarreal where although they scored two goals they only managed 9 total shots and 4 coming on goal. I know the numbers weren't great in that game but they get an offensive boost with Julian Alvarez expected to start up front. I think the combination of Alvarez, Griezmann and Sorloth up front will cause some troubles for Girona.

Based off last game for Girona I think Atletico will have a ton of chances to find the back of the net after they allowed 19 shots to Real Betis in the season opener. Last season Girona allowed a total of 46 goals for an average of 1.2 per match, falling right about average. I believe this is a number that Atletico can take advantage of, especially with the new offensive additions.

Last season when these two teams faced off the games finished 4-3 in favor of Girona and 3-1 in favor of Atletico. Madrid found the net 6 total times and 3 times in each match last season. I expect them to keep these numbers after an opening match where they scored 2 goals.

Onto the second leg of this parlay with the new transfer Julian Alvarez. With him being so new to the team I obviously don't have any numbers from his time in Spain but I will revert back to this numbers last season in Manchester. During the 23/24' season in the Premier League Alvarez finished with a total of 99 shots in 31 starts, for an average of 3.1 shots per game. Things could be different in a Madrid offense compared to City but I like our chances if he plays most of the game. I like Alvarez to get at least two shots off this afternoon, it doesn't matter where they go we just need two attempts. GL.
