Alcaraz/Zverev Both to Win 2-0 (-120)
This bet may be a little confusing to some so let me break it down. I am betting on both Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev to win their matches 2 sets to 0. Carlos plays today (7/29) at 1:00 PM and Zverev plays tomorrow (7/30) at 6:00 AM.
My reasoning behind this is pretty straight forward, I am backing two of the best clay court players in the game at the moment and the two guys who went toe to toe in this year’s French Open.
Starting with Alcaraz who is coming off a 2024 French Open victory and who is a career 76-16 on clay and 37-6 combined in the L2 seasons. Alcaraz is also 18-3 career at Roland Garros. In a two-set format there is just no way I see him dropping a set, he has just been too dominate in the last couple months on all surfaces.
Alcaraz faces Tallon Griekspoor who is just 4-3 lifetime at Roland Garros and only 20-14 in the 24’ ATP season. Griekspoor did have a rather convincing win in round one winning 6-2, 6-3 but it came against Petros Tsitisipas who is currently unranked and has a highest career ranking of 727. Safe to say his opponent this afternoon will be slightly more challenging.
Next, want to discuss Zverev who hasn’t been as dominate as Alcaraz but has still done some damage himself. Coming off a 6-2, 6-2 win in round one against Munar, he showed again why he made it to this year’s French Open final. Reaching the semifinals the past 3 years and the finals last year at Roland Garros. It would be fair to say Zverev has found a love for the clay.
Zverev has a career 34-9 record at this venue, something that honestly shocked me when I dug into it. I knew he was good on clay but didn’t realize he was this good. He will face Tomas Machac in the 2nd round who is coming off a three-set victory in round 1 (6-2, 4-6, 6-2).
If there is going to be a sweaty leg of this parlay this will be it. Machac ranks a respectable 39th in the world, much better than Alcaraz’s opponent. Just 2-2 all time at Roland Garros, he has limited exposure to this surface something that could cause him trouble and lean the match even more into Zverev’s hands.
I never like betting a two-leg parlay for both guys to dominate because of human nature and the fact that anything could happen, but both of these guys are more than versed on clay. Carlos and Alexander dominated the 2024 campaign, dominated their round one opponents and face two guys who are a step in competition below them. Feel comfortable backing these two and their history on clay.
I expect both guys to move onto round 3 with pretty commanding victories this afternoon and tomorrow morning. GL.
